The Firm’s Real Estate Department handles a comprehensive array of transactions for a diverse group of clients in both commercial and residential matters, including purchases and sales, leasing, development, and financing transactions. In addition to conventional conveyancing and leasing transactions, our real estate attorneys are experienced in tax-free exchanges, sale and leaseback transactions, property and asset management issues, ground leases, construction contracts and title matters, as well as in the organization and representation of homeowners associations, condominiums and cooperatives.
Our Real Estate Department also engages extensively in zoning and land use matters, particularly in Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York. In the past, these matters have involved the planning and approval of large subdivisions, waterfront and special use developments,
and the creation and administration of tax districts, neighborhood associations, and planned unit developments. Together with the support of the Litigation Department, when applicable, the Department has successfully prosecuted administrative and court appeals of zoning and other land use applications and tax assessments affecting our clients’ properties. The Firm and the attorneys of the Real Estate Department are approved agents and closing counsel for every major title insurer and a significant number of lending institutions. Our long standing relationships with such insurers, lenders and the real estate brokerage community provide significant ancillary benefits to our clients.
