Biography

Richard is the head of the Firm’s Intellectual Property Department and is a member of the Business Law Department. He has been counseling clients for over 25 years on a wide range of intellectual property and business law matters.

Richard’s intellectual property practice includes the global selection, use and protection of trademarks, the protection of copyrights and trade secrets, trademark and copyright infringement matters, Internet and computer law, domain name disputes and licensing matters. He has represented a large variety of businesses, not-for-profit institutions and individuals in connection with their intellectual property needs.

Richard represents the Firm’s business clients as both general counsel and special counsel in a wide range of corporate finance and business law matters, including business start-ups, entity formation and maintenance, shareholders agreements, limited liability company agreements, early stage and venture capital round financings, commercial financing, corporate equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture agreements, control disputes, business divorce, corporate reorganizations and liquidations and general corporate matters. He also advises clients on labor and employment matters involving such issues as employment discrimination, sexual harassment, unfair labor practices, wage and hour and wrongful termination and personnel policies.

Richard possess an in-depth experience in alcohol, food and health-related compliance law, including labeling regulations, negotiating and drafting distribution agreements, addressing disputes and obtaining required permits and licenses.

Prior to practicing law, Richard spent several years successfully managing a supply and distribution business that operated throughout the tri-state area.
